How to connect Sticklight to GitHub
Setting up Export to GitHub takes less than a minute.
Step 1: Open settings Inside Sticklight, go to: Settings → GitHub You can also access the GitHub connector directly from the GitHub button near the Publish button.
Step 2: Connect your GitHub account Click Connect GitHub and authorize Sticklight to access your GitHub account.
Step 3: Start syncing automatically Once connected, Sticklight creates a new GitHub repository for your project and pushes your code automatically. From that point forward, every change you make syncs directly to GitHub.
Important things to know
Before connecting your project, here are a few important details about how the integration currently works:
- Export to GitHub is currently one-way syncing
- Changes flow from Sticklight to GitHub only
- You cannot connect an existing GitHub repository
- Disconnecting does not delete your repository
- Reconnecting creates a new repository
- Downgrading from Pro stops future syncing, but the existing repository remains intact on GitHub
- Your Sticklight version history also remains accessible regardless of GitHub connection status.

Can I connect an existing GitHub repository? No. Sticklight currently creates a new repository for each connected project.
Is syncing two-way? No. Export to GitHub currently works as a one-way sync from Sticklight to GitHub only. Changes made directly inside GitHub will not sync back into Sticklight. But don’t worry, 2-way sync is coming soon.
Can I open my project in VS Code or Cursor? Yes. Once your project syncs to GitHub, you can access the repository from external development environments including VS Code and Cursor.
What happens if I disconnect GitHub? Disconnecting stops future syncing, but your GitHub repository remains fully intact.
What happens if I reconnect later? Sticklight creates a brand-new repository when reconnecting.
