Add “Sign in with Google” to your app with just a toggle. Sticklight handles the complex OAuth setup behind the scenes, so you don’t need to create a Google Cloud project or configure redirect URLs.
Who can do this: Owners and Admins can configure authentication settings. Editors cannot modify auth configuration. See Roles and Permissions for details.
How It Works
When someone clicks Sign in with Google in your app:
- They’re sent to Google to choose their account
- Google confirms their identity
- Sticklight creates a secure login session for your app
- They return to your app, signed in
All of this happens automatically once you enable Google Sign-In in your project settings.
Enabling Google Sign-In
Before you start, make sure Cloud Backend is enabled for your project.
- Go to Settings (gear icon)
- Select the Users tab
- Click Authentication Settings
- Click on Google
- Toggle Enable Google Sign-in on
That’s it. Your app can now offer Google sign-in to users.
Adding the Sign-In Button
After enabling Google Sign-In, ask Sticklight to add a Google sign-in button to your app. For example:
- “Add a Sign in with Google button to my login page”
- “Let users sign in with their Google account”
Sticklight will generate the button and handle the authentication flow automatically.
Using Your Own Google Credentials (Advanced)
Most users don’t need this. Sticklight’s managed setup works for the majority of apps.
However, if you need to use your own Google OAuth credentials, you can provide your own Google Client ID and Secret in the Authentication Settings. Sticklight will display a callback URL that you’ll need to add to your Google Cloud Console configuration.
FAQ
Do I need a Google Cloud account?
No. With Sticklight’s managed setup, everything is handled for you. You only need a Google Cloud account if you choose to use your own custom credentials.
Can users sign in with both email and Google?
Yes. You can enable both Email and Google sign-in methods. Users can choose whichever they prefer.
What information does my app receive from Google?
Your app receives the user’s email address and basic profile information (like their name) that they’ve agreed to share during the Google sign-in process.
Is this secure?
Yes. Sticklight’s sign-in service validates every request, uses encrypted tokens, and creates isolated sessions for each app. Your users’ Google credentials are never exposed to your app.
