Export to GitHub
1 min read
Back up your project code to GitHub with automatic syncing on every change.
Export to GitHub backs up your project to a GitHub repository. Once connected, every change you make in Sticklight automatically syncs to GitHub.
Available on Pro plans.
Who can do this: Owners, Admins, and Editors can connect their own GitHub account. See Roles and Permissions for details.
Why Use It
- Backup your work. Your code lives on GitHub, giving you an additional layer of security.
- Access your code. View, download, or share your project’s source code anytime.
- Use external tools. Open your code in VS Code, Cursor, or other development environments to review it.
Connecting to GitHub
- Go to Settings in the top menu and select GitHub from the sidebar, or access the GitHub connector from the GitHub button in the top bar near the Publish button
- Click Connect GitHub
- Sign in to GitHub if prompted
- Authorize Sticklight to access your account
Sticklight creates a new repository for your project and pushes your code. From then on, every change syncs automatically.
Disconnecting
- Go to Settings > GitHub
- Click Disconnect
- Confirm your choice
Your GitHub repository stays intact after disconnecting. Sticklight simply stops syncing new changes to it.
If you reconnect later, a new repository will be created.
FAQ
Can I edit code on GitHub and have it sync back to Sticklight?
No. Export to GitHub is one-way. Changes flow from Sticklight to GitHub only.
Can I connect to an existing GitHub repository?
No. Sticklight creates a new repository for each project you connect.
What happens if I downgrade to a Free plan?
Your project loses its GitHub connection and stops syncing. The repository remains on GitHub in its last synced state, but no new changes will be pushed.
