Version History

Track changes and restore previous versions

Every change to your project is saved automatically. Version history lets you review past states and restore them if needed.

Who can do this: Owners, Admins, and Editors can view version history and restore previous versions. See Roles and Permissions for details.

How It Works

Sticklight saves a version after each significant change:

  • AI-generated updates
  • Manual edits via visual editing
  • Code changes (if using the code editor)
  • Database schema changes

Viewing History

Click the version history icon in the top navigation to see the full version list.

Version Information

Each version displays:

  • ID – A unique identifier for the version
  • Timestamp – When the change was made
  • Summary – A brief description of what changed

The currently active version is marked with “Current” and a star icon.

The Safety Net

Version history is your safety net. Never worry about:

  • Breaking something and not being able to fix it
  • Trying experimental changes
  • Losing work from accidental deletions
  • AI changes that did not match your intent

Restoring Versions

If you want to restore a previous version:

  1. Open Version History
  2. Find the version you want to restore
  3. Click Restore on that version
  4. Confirm the restore

Your project immediately reverts to that state.

What Gets Restored

Restored:

  • All code and files
  • Design and styles
  • Page structure and content
  • Configuration

Not restored:

  • Database content (data entered by users)
  • Published site (if published)
  • Version history itself (you can always roll forward again)

After Rolling Back

The rollback creates a new entry in your version history. This means:

  • You have not lost any versions
  • You can roll forward to where you were
  • The history shows the rollback as a change

Rollback + Publish

Rolling back your workspace does not affect your live site. If you want to rollback the published version:

  1. Rollback in your workspace
  2. Verify the restored version looks correct
  3. Update your published site

Selective Undo

If you only want to undo specific changes rather than everything, try:

“Undo the last change to the hero section”

“Revert the color changes but keep the new layout”

This gives you more granular control than a full rollback.
